What is a matching gift?

Corporate matching gift programs are a form of giving back in which organizations financially match donations that their employees make to nonprofit organizations. Many companies match employees’, retirees’, and employees’ spouses’ charitable contributions on both monetary donations and volunteer hours. Matching gifts help build community relationships and further the impact made by employee contributions.

How do I request a matching gift?

Requesting a matching gift or volunteer grant is normally a five-minute process, which must be initiated by the donor. You can do this by filling out and submitting a paper match form provided by your employer or through an electronic submission process.

How much of my donation will be matched by my company?

Companies offer different matches. Some will match your exact donation, and others will match at a higher rate. Check your company’s guidelines for information.
