St. Francis Center

In the hills of southeastern Ohio, access to consistent food, clothing, and community support can be difficult for neighbors living in rural areas. Catholic Social Services is working to bring those resources closer to home.

The St. Francis Center became part of the Catholic Social Services family of ministries in March 2026 as part of CSS’s growing commitment to southeastern Ohio. Located in McArthur, the center supports individuals and families throughout Vinton County and surrounding rural communities with food assistance, clothing, essential resources, and compassionate support.

Reaching Rural Communities

The St. Francis Center extends its impact beyond its physical location through mobile food outreach into surrounding counties and rural communities. Through efforts such as St. Francis on Wheels, CSS is able to bring food and essential support directly to neighbors who may face transportation barriers or limited access to local resources.

The center also provides boxed meals during the summer months, helping families and individuals maintain access to food when other seasonal resources may be limited.

Benefits and Resources

The St. Francis Center currently provides:

  • Food assistance for individuals and families in need
  • Mobile food outreach to surrounding counties and rural communities
  • Boxed meals during the summer months
  • Clothing and other essential resources
  • Connection to CSS programs and community resources across the region
  • Compassionate support for neighbors facing hardship

As part of the Catholic Social Services network, the center can also help connect individuals with additional resources, including senior services, disability services, and family support programs available throughout central and southeastern Ohio.
